I’ve been keeping a list of the wild edible plants and animals some for a few years now. Whenever I read about a new plant that I think grows around here I add it to my list, keep an eye out for it, and once I’ve eaten it, I put a check mark on my list. To learn what’s good to eat, I use a combination of learning from neighbors, foraging books and wildcrafting websites, as well as attending the annual Food Summit hosted by the Nimiipuu nation.

Here is a link to a PDF of my Wild Foods List so you can download it and start to check off different foods as you learn to recognize and eat them!

We strongly recommend foraging with someone experienced, or looking at pictures and descriptions from several online or printed resources to be sure of identification before harvesting and eating. Bluebird Forest Garden and the author of this content assume no liability for improper identification of wild foods.
